La Vida Laguna Activities put on hold all weekend do to a Mega-Swell!
Kilay Reinfeld - Thursday, July 30, 2009
The summers biggest surf swell was pounding the Southern California coast last weekend. Many of the south facing beaches along Laguna's coastline had waves over 20ft! La Vida Laguna surf instructor Jaeson Plon was filmed surfing at Sammy's, dropping into huge lefts that measured double and triple overhead. Jaeson said they were the biggest waves he has ever charged in Orange County. Another La Vida instructor Peter scored waves at El Morro, also stating it was the biggest he'd ever seen it, with big steep drops and barrels you could park your VW bus in! Billy Fried, our CEO (Chief Paddling Officer) was spotted charging the 12 to 14 ft. reforms of rocky Fisherman's Cove on his body board. Alora Ashlie, our VP of Operations, enjoyed watching many of Laguna's professional as well as local surfers compete in the Brooks St. Classic Surf Contest. All around, it was an exciting weekend for all of us in Laguna Beach, and we all hope we get lucky enough to enjoy another swell of that caliber sometime in the near future!
Seal rock is the place to see sea lions
Kilay Reinfeld - Monday, June 22, 2009
Check out seal rock on our guided eco-kayak tours. The California Sea Lions live on seal rock year round, and are friendly and range in size from 50 lbs. to 900 lbs. It only takes 20 minutes from our launching location to paddle to seal rock, so you can complete the round trip adventure in under an hour. Seal Rock is a great place to reconnect with nature, take pictures of the sea lions and various birds, as well as get a glimpse of the $20 + million estates along the coast of the private community 'Emerald Bay". Truly a day to remember always!
