Paddle Yoga Boarding with Heather George

This 90 minute class with certified yoga and SUP instructor Heather George will lift your mood, your body and your well being. We start on the sand with a yoga stretch and warm up, followed by a quick paddle to our protected cove, where you will anchor and begin your paddle-meditation, breathing and yoga poses in a serene setting where the clean air is redolent with the smell of the sea. The stretching series on the ocean is an unsurpassed way to cultivate strength, flexibility, balance, community and harmony.

Basics of Fire Dancing with Julie Harness

When we don’t create, we stagnate. When was the last time you reinvented the way your body moves? Challenge yourself to re-evaluate your motion with these exciting new classes that will get you in better shape body and mind! Our combination poi/hoop classes are the perfect way to have fun, learn a new skill, and increase your fitness. We poi for the first half of the class, take a break, and then switch to hooping for the 2nd half
Poi:
Come learn the fundamentals of poi spinning, an ancient practice incorporating elements of martial arts, dance and visual art. Drop into the flow and feel the changes this new kind of movement brings about – increased upper body strength, whole body coordination, increased mental acuity, and as technique is perfected the practice becomes a cardiovascular workout as well. Learn to manipulate two weights on ropes (one held in each hand) to create breathtaking geometric patterns that are mesmerizing to watch as they teach your body to move in a graceful flowing pattern of its own. The dedicated student may eventually advance to the point of dancing with real Fire Poi!
Hoop:
Get ready for some cardio – hooping and hoop dancing will have you sweating as you learn to spin your hoop on your torso, arms, neck and in the hand, off the body in graceful arcs. Improve your all-around fitness level, especially your core muscles, shoulders and arms. This is also a great class for improving balance and coordination. As you become more comfortable with the basics, it becomes possible to string a few moves together and get into a flow. And don’t be shy, men – there are plenty of challenging moves off-body that require a good deal of upper-body strength and are guaranteed to be masculine!

Cancellation Policy: Classes will be cancelled if it is raining heavily, if there is lightening, high winds or air temperature is below 60. Call one-hour prior to class if you think the weather is questionable. If there’s a little rain we will often go on with the class, so make sure you call and don’t just assume class is cancelled. If the water is choppy, we adapt the class accordingly with the perfect beach and water techniques for you and the conditions nature offers us.
