About Electric Biking in Laguna Beach
Laguna Beach is about as fine a biking town as there is. Small, easy to navigate, with beautiful ocean views and stunning neighborhoods, all wrapped in that perfect year-round Mediterranean climate.
-
We were the first company to offer electric bike tours in Laguna Beach, and we worked with the City of Laguna to design the city’s official bike route, which winds through scenic neighborhoods but avoids busy Coast Highway altogether.
Our bike business didn’t take off until we acquired a fleet of electric bicycles. They were the game changer, because Laguna is hilly. We tried regular bikes, but found people on vacation don’t want to work that hard. And pedal assist bikes are the easy, fun way to get around town. They’re so quiet and fun and make going uphill easy.
You’ll meet us at our Surf Shop at the corner of Glenneyre and Oak, where we will fit you with a bike, a helmet, and some water. Our bike guides are the best; avid mountain and road bikers who have racked up thousands of miles in Laguna and know the neighborhoods better than anyone. They’ll teach you how to navigate the speeds and the gears, and before you know it, you’re riding an electric bike safely and confidently.
And what neighborhoods they are: tree lined, meticulously landscaped, with gorgeous ocean views. You’ll ride deep into canyons with steep hillsides, see how Laguna was built across seven peaks, and how the earliest homes were built by artists from Pasadena who were escaping the summer heat. Just as they still do now. Only the homes are bigger and more modern. But at the turn of the century they were more modest, and in the California Craftsman or Bungalow style. Laguna works meticulously to preserve them, thankfully. Then you’ll ride through downtown Laguna and see the historic core and the Arts District, before venturing into the north part of town and it’s lovely, wide residential streets. Our guides will stop frequently to show you historic homes, public art, and points of interest. Finally, it’s down to Laguna’s splendid beachfront park, Heisler Park, home to amazing art, landscaping, and some perfect surf. The views along the coast are unbelievable.
Our back roads electric bike tour is the way to get to know Laguna beyond Pacific Coast Highway and the urban core. This is a chance to experience what makes this little seaside village of 25,000 people so uniquely special. It’s the neighborhoods.
